Ideas and questions I gathered from the film: First, I was surprised by how little French there was since the title is in English and in French. The fact that there was a Francophone director, Raoul Peck, probably explains that bilingual title.
Second, Karl Marx was a father and, according to the film, a loving husband. I always imagined him as a pensive, lonely bachelor. That revelation reminds me that there are real people behind every text and their backgrounds shape everything they write.
Lastly, Communism for Marx and Engels intended to help the neglected working class, but its practice in Russia and China years later abused the concept.
