Ideas and questions I gathered from the film: A little fear of death can push us from existing to living. In the first stage, we float through each day. In the second, however, we experience more of the world and appreciate the minutes that pass too quickly. The difference between the 2-hour setting and the 90-minute film reinforces that notion of appreciation. By losing 30 minutes in the film, I realized that in life I expect each hour to pass, but there is no guarantee that it will happen. Similarly, even though 60 seconds will always be one minute, certain scenes seem to drag while others feature encounters that accelerate the pace of the film. Overall, the way Varda plays with and portrays time particularly stood out to me.
